SUMMARY:Cyr Wheel - Jamiza Dar
DESCRIPTION:The cyr wheel is a truly unique ground apparatus consisting of a single large metal wheel. The student will learn to manipulate the wheel from both the inside and outside via spins\, twists\, and other movements. This workshop will explore the basic foundational movements of cyr wheel\, looking at the waltz and center spin\, the two most common spins within the wheel. We will also learn multiple manipulations from outside the wheel and begin working on tricks such as coin spins\, turns\, and cartwheels\, depending on prior student experience. Wheels will be provided for participants whose heights are between 60“ – 70”. Students who are shorter than 60“ or taller than 70” may still participate\, but may experience difficulty with the techniques. Shoes are not required\, but may be worn for student’s comfort. It is recommended that any shoes worn be thin soled athletic or martial art shoes\, such as feiyues.

These can be different from body to body\, and here we take a biomechanical approach\, learning how to assess each person’s access to certain ranges of motion and explore how body proportions influence how a c-shape is accomplished. C-shapes cannot be rushed or “cheated”\, but they can be adapted to work for different bodies.

There are 8 clearly defined efforts that can stand alone or combine to alter the meaning of any movement\, codified by dancer and scholar Rudolf Laban in the early 1900s\, which have been studied by dancers and actors for decades. When we apply this system (called Laban Movement Analysis) to aerial\, we create acts that move beyond the usual collection of feats and tricks into a place of narrative. Multiple apparatuses will be available\, and participants are encouraged to be respectful of shared equipment and fellow aerialists. \nThere are no performances\, no judges\, and no pressure. Just a room full of people who love to fly. \nAll experience levels are welcome. Participants should be comfortable practicing independently and are responsible for working within their own abilities. DESCRIPTION:This shortened version of a  6hr workshop from Fight or Flight Ent has been presented internationally for the past 16 years\, and now comes to  TAG. An intensive practical and lecture workshop focusing on the Art\, the Science and the Safety of Performer Rigging. Suitable for anyone involved in the Aerial Arts\, Circus\, Stunts\, Theatre\, and anywhere performers are off the ground. The Workshop is constantly updated to the questions and concerns prevalent in the Performer Rigging community. This workshop delves into Performer Loads\, Safety Factors\, Risk Assessment and Risk Reduction\, Rigging locations and Venues\, Equipment choices\, Knots\, Pulley Systems and Mechanical Advantage and compliance with the existing ANSI Performer Flying Standards. Each participant gets a letter of completion which satisfies most Teacher Training programs and Insurance requirements. Brett Copes of FoFE is an Acrobatic Rigger\, Stunt Rigger and Performer Flying specialist with 20+ years of experience. Having worked with Cirque Du Soleil\, Marvel Universe\, Cavalia\, IATSE\, ShowRig\, Peter Pan 360\, Venardos Circus\, NECCA\, the Chicago Contemporary Circus Festival\, Superbowl LVIII\, and as well as many film/tv productions.
