Creating Narrative Using Laban’s 8 Efforts w/Liza Rose
August 22 @ 4:30 pm – 5:45 pm

All Apparatuses | All Levels This workshop that uses the participant’s own choreography to explore how we can change what story we’re telling onstage by applying different efforts to our actions. There are 8 clearly defined efforts that can stand alone or combine to alter the meaning of any movement, codified by dancer and scholar Rudolf Laban in the early 1900s, which have been studied by dancers and actors for decades. When we apply this system (called Laban Movement Analysis) to aerial, we create acts that move beyond the usual collection of feats and tricks into a place of narrative. Bring up to 1 minute of your own choreography on any apparatus.
