Cyr Wheel – Jamiza Dar

August 21 @ 4:30 pm5:45 pm

The cyr wheel is a truly unique ground apparatus consisting of a single large metal wheel. The student will learn to manipulate the wheel from both the inside and outside via spins, twists, and other movements. This workshop will explore the basic foundational movements of cyr wheel, looking at the waltz and center spin, the two most common spins within the wheel. We will also learn multiple manipulations from outside the wheel and begin working on tricks such as coin spins, turns, and cartwheels, depending on prior student experience. Wheels will be provided for participants whose heights are between 60“ – 70”. Students who are shorter than 60“ or taller than 70” may still participate, but may experience difficulty with the techniques. Shoes are not required, but may be worn for student’s comfort. It is recommended that any shoes worn be thin soled athletic or martial art shoes, such as feiyues.
